Robusta is easy to roast in general. High-density and rounder beans behave slightly more consistently in the drum of your roaster. Start with high heat and go lower as you progress through the roast. Don’t worry too much about crashes and flicks, they shouldn’t happen here. Feel free to make small changes close to first crack. To shine robusta needs more development than arabica.
Please note this is a general, not a specific tip. Each coffee tends to behave a bit (or a lot!) differently and should be approached individually. We highly recommend working with a colorimeter machine. Your local data, depending on your grinder, grind size and the way you prepare coffee surface for measurements, will be the most precise tool for your QC routine aside from cupping.
